"A TIGRESS IN TEXAS" is a 7 1/2 by 4 foot contemporary handwoven tapestry comprised of a heavy cotton warp and varying weights of wool and wool/synthetic blend rug yarn wefts. It was woven on a simple frame loom consisting of two-by-fours and notched hardwood horizontal beams. Its designer, Leslie Kiser, orchestrated its production over the span of several classes made up of enthusiasts with a range of textile experience, from novice to advanced.
It is nearly complete in the photo above, lacking only the "foldover" or hem of about five inches left to be woven at the top. The corresponding lower hem, visable at the bottom, was the first part woven.
